Melody Hopper is on the precipice of her senior year at Baxter Hall University and she is tired of her life being defined by her past trauma. Between her fear of abandonment and her hyper-regimented daily routine, she yearns for a carefree life where no one knows what she’s been through. When she lands a summer internship in Dublin, she just might get her wish.

She didn’t plan on Jake Perry, Baxter Hall’s Golden Boy, the Adonis-incarnate, landing the same internship. And she really didn’t plan on him flirting with her or wanting to break down the walls she spent ten years building up. And she definitely didn’t plan on wanting to let him in.

When they return to school in the fall, Jake keeps chipping away at the fortress, leaving Melody in a state of confusion, excitement, and fear. Does she really not have the space in her life for Jake or has she just gotten so comfortable keeping everyone at arm’s length? Will she continue to let the darkness of her past cloud the golden glow of the future?
